FTW IMPROV

July 28

Chicago Project (part of YU) was a four day serve trip for 270 youth students from across North America. I planned and executed eight night activities throughout their stay at Trinity Christian College. I also served as the volunteer coordinator, coordinating over 15 volunteers throughout the week.

For The Win (FTW) Improv team preformed for students in the Black Box Theater. This event required proper stage set up and coordinating with the FTW director.

Participating in the Open Gym was a second option. Students burned some extra energy off playing volleyball and basketball. The event required volunteer coodination and gym set up.

"Despicable Me" showed in the Recital Hall on a large screen. Minimal chairs and a relaxing atmosphere allowed for students to sprawl out after their first day of work. Popcorn completed the movie night.

Students played a massive game of Glow-in-the-Dark Capture the Flag . Two teams were broken into with different colored glow sticks. Campus landmarks created boundaries. This event drew those with an extra dose of energy!

The final night allowed for students to reflect back on their new memories. A bonfire was set up in Tibstra's backyard and floodlights lit up the volleyball courts.

On their way to the bonfire, students got a late night treat at the ice cream bar. Students created their favorite treat with three different flavors and five different toppings.

Due to weather, we moved the ice cream bar inside, and the bonfire ended quickly. Students played card games and socialized inside. Different than what I planned, but with quick thinking the night was still successful.

By far the most involved night, students choose between a Bunco Tournament, Dodgeball Tournament, or Wii Games.

Bunco, a traditional dice game, allowed students to interact with their friends in a friendly competitive game.

Those with a competitive edge participated in the dodgeball tournament. The tournament was complete with refs, three courts, and a bracket. The winning team walked away with a bag of candy to their next work day.

The Wii games allowed for students to relax in the Bootsma Bookstore Cafe. Students played games while enjoying a sweet treat.
