I noticed a theme in my writing throughout my years at Trinity Christian College. I choose topics I was personally interested in. My academic writing focuses on fitness and women in advertisements. I pay attention to the power advertisements have on women's self-esteem.

"Defining Beauty"

A rhetorical analysis is performed on advertisement’s power on women. I used eight rhetorical studies to find a definition of beauty in cultural. I analyze how the definition impacts women. I conclude by the resistance women can build against these advertisements.

The hegemonic search model  aids my study of the the commercial “Some Time Together”.The commerical promotes Nike's newest LunarGlide shoes. The paper separates into the different sections: Description, Historical Context, Critical Perspective, Anaylsis (using 3 devices) and a Conclusion. The model discovers Nike’s perception of time in American culture.

"Christian Ethics in Relationships"

The next academic piece deviates from my main focus, but demonstrates the communication ethics I hold important.

"Christian Ethics in Relationships" studies a past relationship using Paula Tompkins Five Values. Tompkins proposes truth, justice, fairness, care, and integrity to create ethical communication. The paper demonstrates how ethical communication creates tension but also highlights the value's practicality.
